On February 28th, 2013 the conference "Strategy against the poisoning of wildlife in Italy" organized by the National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga within the project LIFE ANTIDOTE will be held in Rome, at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Health.
The conference arises to urge a stronger commitment by the regulatory authorities, to bring out the strengths and weaknesses in the fight against the use of poisoned baits, to promote the sharing of experiences by many stakeholders and to propose measures to significantly improve the ability to address the problem and to prevent it. It will start, therefore, the analysis of the current legislation and the field experiences that knows what obstacles technical, legislative , bureaucratic and "human" make difficult to identify those responsibles. Will discuss these subjects naturalists and biologists, veterinarians, staff of the Ministry of Health, the Carabinieri for the Protection of the Health of the NAS and the State Forestry Corps. The National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga will present the paper "A strategy against the use of poison in Italy", in collaboration with the National Reference Centre for Forensic Medicine Veterinary Institute Zooprofilattico of Lazio and Tuscany, in which measures are proposed practices and regulations that may be useful to administrators, legislators, police, veterinarians and associations. A valuable contribution to the debate will be led by two experts of the Andalusia Region. Interventions will close association Tuscan Dog At Work that has been training dogs to search for the poison and wants to be available to public authorities and police forces to combat the use of poisoned bait.
